1. Purpose & Commitment
At LOOKSY Pty Ltd (“LOOKSY”, “we”, “our”), we are committed to sourcing and manufacturing products responsibly, ethically, and sustainably.
This Supplier Code of Conduct & Ethical Sourcing Policy (“Code”) sets the minimum standards we expect from all suppliers, factories, agents, and subcontractors who manufacture or supply products, components, or materials to LOOKSY.
Suppliers are expected to comply with all applicable laws, respect human rights, uphold fair labour practices, and protect the environment throughout their operations.
2. Scope
This Code applies to:
- All direct and indirect suppliers, subcontractors, agents, and service providers engaged by LOOKSY;
- All facilities involved in the design, production, packaging, or distribution of LOOKSY-branded goods; and
- Any partner or affiliate representing LOOKSY in sourcing or manufacturing activities.
3. Legal & Regulatory Compliance
Suppliers must operate in full compliance with:
- The laws of the country of manufacture;
- Australian Consumer Law (for product safety and labelling);
- Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth);
- Environmental protection and occupational health and safety regulations; and
- Relevant international labour standards.
Where local law conflicts with this Code, the higher standard shall prevail.
4. Labour Standards & Human Rights
LOOKSY supports the fundamental principles of the ILO Core Conventions.
All suppliers must ensure:
(a) No Forced or Bonded Labour
- Workers must be employed voluntarily and free to leave their employment with reasonable notice.
- No use of involuntary, prison, indentured, or trafficked labour is permitted.
(b) No Child Labour
- No worker under 15 years of age, or under the legal minimum working age (whichever is higher), may be employed.
- Suppliers must maintain accurate records verifying the age of all employees.
(c) Fair Wages & Benefits
- Workers must be paid at least the legal minimum wage or a living wage, whichever is higher.
- All benefits (e.g., overtime pay, leave entitlements, social insurance) must comply with local labour laws.
(d) Working Hours
- Working hours shall not exceed local legal limits or 60 hours per week, including overtime.
- Overtime must be voluntary and compensated at premium rates.
(e) Non-Discrimination
- No discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, political opinion, or national origin.
(f) Freedom of Association
- Workers have the right to join or form trade unions and engage in collective bargaining without retaliation or intimidation.
(g) Humane Treatment
- Physical abuse, harassment, or disciplinary practices that degrade dignity are strictly prohibited.
5. Health, Safety & Workplace Conditions
Suppliers must provide a safe and healthy working environment. This includes:
- Regular safety inspections and maintenance of equipment;
- Adequate lighting, ventilation, and emergency exits;
- Access to clean drinking water and sanitary facilities;
- Proper storage and handling of hazardous materials;
- Worker training on occupational health and safety.
Factories must have an appointed safety officer and documented emergency procedures.
6. Environmental Responsibility
LOOKSY recognizes that environmental stewardship is essential to ethical business.
Suppliers must:
- Comply with all local and international environmental laws;
- Minimize air and water pollution, waste, and chemical use;
- Adopt recycling and sustainable material practices;
- Avoid use of restricted substances (e.g., lead, AZO dyes, heavy metals);
- Dispose of hazardous waste responsibly; and
- Implement programs to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption.
Preference is given to suppliers who demonstrate measurable environmental improvement initiatives.
7. Product Quality & Safety
Suppliers must ensure all LOOKSY products:
- Meet or exceed Australian product safety and labeling standards;
- Are free from harmful substances or unsafe materials;
- Comply with relevant textile and consumer safety regulations (e.g., ACCC Clothing & Textiles Standards);
- Undergo quality control inspections before shipment; and
- Are packaged in a manner that ensures safe delivery and minimal environmental impact.
8. Ethical Business Conduct
Suppliers must:
- Conduct business with honesty, integrity, and transparency;
- Prohibit bribery, corruption, or facilitation payments;
- Maintain accurate and auditable business records;
- Avoid conflicts of interest with LOOKSY staff or representatives; and
- Declare any subcontracting relationships in advance and seek written approval from LOOKSY.
9. Animal Welfare
Where applicable, suppliers must ensure:
- No animal testing or cruelty is used in product development;
- All materials derived from animals (e.g., leather, wool, silk) are sourced ethically and in compliance with animal welfare standards.
10. Monitoring, Audits & Compliance
LOOKSY reserves the right to:
- Conduct announced or unannounced audits of supplier facilities;
- Request documentation (e.g., payroll records, worker contracts, certifications);
- Interview workers confidentially to verify compliance.
Suppliers must provide full cooperation during audits and take prompt corrective action for any non-compliance identified.
Repeated or severe violations may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.
11. Reporting Violations
Suppliers, workers, or third parties may report suspected violations of this Code confidentially via:
- Email: info@looksy.com.au (Subject: Confidential – Code of Conduct Violation)
- Anonymous written report to LOOKSY’s Compliance Department.
LOOKSY will investigate all reports promptly and take appropriate corrective measures without retaliation against whistleblowers.
12. Continuous Improvement
LOOKSY encourages suppliers to go beyond minimum compliance and continuously improve their social, environmental, and ethical performance.
Suppliers implementing recognized certification systems (e.g., BSCI, WRAP, ISO 14001, SA8000) will be prioritized for long-term partnerships.
13. Enforcement & Termination
Non-compliance with this Code may result in:
- Written warning and required corrective action plan;
- Temporary suspension of orders; or
- Permanent termination of the supplier relationship.
LOOKSY reserves the right to cease business with suppliers who fail to meet or demonstrate progress toward compliance.
14. Governing Law
This Code is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
All disputes arising in relation to this Code will be resolved through good faith dialogue and, if necessary, mediation in Sydney, NSW.
15. Acceptance
By supplying goods or services to LOOKSY, the supplier acknowledges that it:
- Has read and understood this Supplier Code of Conduct;
- Agrees to comply with its principles; and
- Will ensure all subcontractors and production partners adhere to the same standards.
